The Decision peer-mentoring program connects WCSD middle school boys with high school mentors
Westerville North High School senior Dezmon Howard sat among the group of Heritage Middle School sixth-graders, leading them in a discussion about uncommon rewards.
He prompted them with questions about respect, encouraged them to think about true manhood and explained why it’s important to be active in your community, school and sports.

WESTERVILLE, Ohio (WSYX) — Senior Devray Kirkland is trying to make an impact in the classroom. He’s part of Westerville City Schools mentorship program.
“I want to make sure they see someone who is doing exactly what they can do, and they see their future,” he said. “And I want to make sure they are making the right decisions.”
The Westerville South football and lacrosse player is a role model, giving students, specifically boys, someone they can relate to.
